It can be washed, disinfected and wiped clean and has excellent chemical resistance to most oils, solvents, acids and alkalis. Plastazote\u00ae is the world\u2019s most recognised polyethylene foam. It has earned a reputation for its unique properties and excellent performance achieved at relatively low densities. This type of foam is expanded without the use of chemical blowing agents, and the only gas used to expand the foam is pure nitrogen. This foam is therefore chemically and biologically inert. This is important using it in medical devices and wherever there is contact with user skin. Medical and food approvals can be obtained using this foam. An important feature of this unique technology is the even distribution of the foam density throughout the sheet. Plastazote foam is not like a sponge, where the cells are open and connected, so gases and liquids are not easily absorbed. Unlike other foams, it is strong and flexible due to the regular shapes, sides and walls of the polyethylene cells.
